Yet Another Sign of the Apocalypse

For those like me who read the news and discover that the most important questions go unasked . . . which is ok, since most of us wouldn't understand the answers anyway.

Judge Rules Boy Can Refuse Blood Transfusion

Heartbreaking story about a boy surrendering life due to his religious convictions. Read the story here, then ask yourself if a boy should be able to make these kinds of decisions? Where is the line drawn on the rights to religious conviction? It's a sad, but thought-provoking story. If you choose to comment, just avoid personal attacks on the boy's family-they've been through enough.

Why do Democrats oppose voter ID at the polls?

To borrow a phrase from Dana Carvey's "Church Lady"--Could it be.....FRAUD? Well, it sure isn't due to the frequently cited reason that it "suppresses " minority votes as Professor Jeff Milyo of the University of Missouri shows here.

Rush Limbaugh called me!

Unfortunately, I have no proof. My first show was on Monday, but I was preempted after 4:30 for the Sonics. Rush Limbaugh called to congratulate me on the new show, but I was already gone! I didn't even get to talk with him, and no recording was made. It's quite painful. Rush has been a hero of mine since I first heard him.

Of course, the reason Rush called was entirely due to my wife--she was the inspiration and drive and the coordinator behind Rush's visit to Afghanistan where they became friends. I am just one of many "imitators" as he likes to put it. :-)

I have to admit, even if I didn't get to talk to him or hear him, it is pretty cool.

Changes at KTTH! The new David Boze Show!

Wow. It’s been a BIG day. I just got the word that I’ve been promoted to host The David Boze Show, 3-6pm weekdays after Michael Medved starting on Monday. I am absolutely thrilled and am greatly looking forward to the new adventure.

On a sadder note, this also means I’m saying goodbye to working with friends Dan Sytman and Teresa Joy. Dan is a hard-working, intelligent, talented guy and Teresa Joy is as her name sounds, a lovely person and a joy to be around. I know they both have fine futures ahead of them and I wish them well.

Our "Friends" the Saudis.....

Read this story about Muslim extremism growing in Bosnia and imagine a "the war on terror is a bumper sticker slogan" Democrat in the White House....

You HAVE to SEE this!

The British Press has a story that shows President Bush visiting severely wounded American servicemen. Their wounds are painful to see, but it shows the lie perpetuated by the chronically Bush-hating left that the man is heartless, evil and refuses to know the consequences of his decisions. Looking at this gives you an idea of the awesome responsibility of his office. It also shows some incredibly resilient young men to whom this country owes a great debt of gratitude.
Read the text, absorb the pictures, pray for our soldiers.

SEAHAWK supports help for the troops!

We spoke with Seahawk Middle Linebacker Lofa Tatupu's mom today about his support for two charities designed to help the families of American servicemen and women. The first was Guide On, a program designed to give the children of fallen servicemen a positive male influence (Guideon.org). The other was Fisher House (http://www.fisherhousevaps.org/) created to give soldiers' families a place to stay when they are shipped away from home for medical treatments.
I really appreciate Lofa's and his family's work for these charities and urge you to go to their webpages to see where you can help too.

Denzel Washington and the Fisher House

A caller told the story of Denzel Washington touring a Fisher House facility and his writing a one million dollar check on the spot. This led to an appreciative conversation about Denzel Washington. Problem: The story isn't quite true. Mr. Washington DID donate money to the Fisher House cause, and is considered a generous contributor, but the million dollar figure comes from an announcement after his visit that was mistakenly thought to apply to Mr. Washington and has become an urban legend. (See: http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/denzel.asp)

The good news is that Washington did donate and he is a heck of a good actor.

New Report Says WAR is COMING!!!

Get your Jimmy "America's Best Days are Behind Us" Carter Sweater out. A Reuter's story today (http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,22711039-23109,00.html) revealed a new report entitled The Age of Consequences has been released by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies. In it, Democrat Advisors warn of the miserable Earth to come. Leon Feurth, former National Security Adviser to Al Gore, predicts rich nations will "go through a 30-year process of kicking people away from the lifeboat"--leaving the poor to suffer the hardships of an Earth with gravely fewer resources. He speculates that deep hatreds will develop as people seek to migrate and possibly conquer lands less impacted by global warming. Not to be outdone, John Podesta, President Bill Clinton's former chief of staff and now president of the Centre for American Progress think tank is even more alarmist predicting, "a scenario in which people and nations are threatened by massive food and water shortages, devastating natural disasters and deadly disease outbreaks," and he "called this outcome inevitable" according to Reuters.

I'm sure there are households in America that will lay awake tonight with nightmares of the coming apocalypse, but I found some perspective in a recent editorial by Investor's Business Daily, "Malthus' Minions" (http://www.investors.com/editorial/editorialcontent.asp?secid=1501&status=article&id=278290879759157).
Helpfully, they remind us that these kinds of doomsday reports have been coming out to scare people since at least 1798 when "Thomas Malthus published a book in which he calculated that human populations were growing faster than the world's ability to feed them." Malthus failed to account for human adaptability and technological advancement. We now eat more, not less and there are FAR more people. IBD then cited numerous other reports of doom from
"The Population Bomb" to the latest UN warnings on predicting a dire future of want, scarcity and need.

They all had one thing in common. They were wrong. OK, make that two things. They were wrong AND the wrongness didn't stop sequels and re-imaginings to keep coming until this very day.

So before you panic or let your kids panic about the plundering of the earth and the last battles for survival, read IBD's editorial and renew your faith in the idea that there are still better days to come for all nations.

The Next President?

Governor Mike Huckabee is coming to Seattle for the King County Republican's Fall Dinner. Go to KCgop.org and click on the "events" tab on the left for pricing and details. I have to say, something about the man makes me want to follow him. He's inspiring, funny, insightful--frankly, his demeanor reminds me of Reagan. I urge you to use this opportunity to see him in person.

What is Hillary hiding?
